A short 5-hour drive from Denver transports you to a truly wonderful part of New Mexico – Santa Fe, home to creative art galleries, quaint boutiques, and some of the best margaritas and enchiladas in the States. If you ever get a chance, it’s absolutely worth a trip to the area for a few days of taste testings, to find your favorites.
And, while you’re at it, head out to Ghost Ranch for a day trip. The home and studio of Georgia O’Keeffe, and the subject of many of her paintings.

About an hour from Santa Fe, the drive will take you through the mesas and past gentle rivers.

With log cabins dotted along the scenery, offering plenty of open space for a quick romp around or a thoughtful ponder.

Ghost Ranch is a 21,000 acre retreat surrounded by ombre colored cliff walls, red hills, and mesas. It offers a vast amount of hiking trails,

Best seen under the golden light of New Mexico’s brilliant fall colors.

Head up from the trails to explore the adobe buildings traditional to New Mexican architecture.

Pop in and out of some of the buildings to check out the Native American influences.
Or grab a seat and take in the views made so famous by O’Keeffe’s works.

You can even work on finding a path to meaning, following the many twists and turns that eventually lead to the center.

Not up for the dizzying array? Sit by and watch while others try…it’ll be sure to bring a smile to your face.

As the sky begins to turn pink, you’ll know it’s time to move on to those margaritas and enchiladas we mentioned above.

Some particular favorites guaranteed to produce the cheek to cheek grins seen above – Rancho de Chimayo (the best enchiladas – order them Christmas style!) and Maria’s New Mexican Kitchen (featuring the most substantial margarita list in the area). And don’t be shy to order to your heart’s content – you’re in the world of enchi-lottas and more-garitas!
You had us at Ghost Ranch! Look amazing.
